Cross Status: On 14 April 2005, Tucker received UKC registration as a pure bred Chinook. This approval makes Tucker the first cross-to-purebred Chinook originating from the cross line initiated by Bob and Connie Jones of Woods Runner kennel with an outcross to an Alaskan Malamute. This cross line was approved by the COA Cross Breeding Program, which recently voted that all 4th generation crosses are eligible to apply for registration as full-blooded Chinooks. Tucker submitted the application for registration, including examination by a COA-approved UKC conformation judge, and was recommended by the COA for registration with the UKC.

Work abilities: Tucker is an excellent recreational sled dog. He's our most reliable lead dog who loves to pull, and if there is a team out front for him to chase, you better hang on for a very fast ride.

Temperament: Tucker is a very sweet and loving boy. Although he does not back down when challenged by another dog, he has never shown any signs of aggression but will instead try to convince the other dog to play. He really lights up around children and treats them very gently, accomodating their hugs and tugs with patience. Tucker loves water - both frozen and liquid. One of his favorite activites is diving into the river behind our house and out-swimming the otters. He is very energetic and loves to run and rough-house, especially with his Mom, Raquel. Tucker is the chorus leader of the pack and will get his choir up for a sing just about every morning. He has a lovely voice but works best with his Dad and sister singing back-up vocals. Also, Tucker is a practiced couch potatoe. He has a charming way of leaning on one elbow in a casual pose. He is most happy lounging with his head resting on your feet or against your legs - as long as he is in some way contacting his human buddies, he can relax most comfortably.
