GreatMountain X Cedar Adahi

GreatMountain X Cedar Adahi

Birthday: 9/26/99

Sire: GR CH, ARBA CH 'PR' WoodsRunner Duncan CGC TT DNA-VIP

Dam: North Down X Cheena TT DNA-P

Cross Status: The GreatMountain cross line was approved by the Chinook Owners Association in 1999. "Dog zero" was Glendon's Sweety, a champion sled dog of an established three-generation pedigree who closely resembled a Chinook. Sweety was from an AKC purebred German Shepard and a Shepard/Labrador/Husky working sled dog with an established pedigree. A breeding between Sweety and Timbermist's Yukon Jack created North Down X Cheena, the first generation. Cedar is a second-generation cross and is certified as part of the C.O.A.'s crossbreeding program.

Exams: GDC Good, OFA prelim Good, CERF normal, Brucella negative, DNA-VIP

Appearance:
Height - 24 1/2 inches, Weight - 65 pounds
Cedar is a tawny dog with a buff mask. He has an athletic build, moderate-to-thick bone, snow paws, a straight top line and sable tail. He has a broad, beautiful head with helicopter ears. You would never know this boy is a cross!

Temperament: Cedar is a very sweet and loving dog at home. Outside, he is outgoing and independent. He is smart, focused and intense. He gets along well with other dogs, although predictably, other intact males are not his favorite.

Work abilities: Cedar is an exceptional sled dog with tremendous drive and motivation. He is strong and fast. He works on a recreational three dog team. This dog would have made Arthur Walden proud!

Ownership: Cedar is owned by Pam Anderson and Judy Bullard (ME), with an interest in his breeding rights retained by Jessica Maurer and Penthea Burns (ME).

Contact: GreatMountain Chinooks at greatmountain@adephia.net

Breeding situation: Cedar will be bred no more than two times. He will likely be neutered by fall of 2002, so both breedings will need to occur this spring and summer.
