Dakota came home in late fall when the weather began getting cold. Since his arrival, he has warmed our hearts and made the winter months a whirlwind of excitment and energy. We have two children, Morgan and Daniel. Dakota has easily slipped into the roll of "sibling" to them. We find it funny to watch him try and take his place as a third child. From the beginning, when the kids would cuddle on the couch in the early, sleepy hours of the morning, Dakota insisted on taking part, he even got his own blanket! He has settled in and we have found a steady routine. He is stubborn and silly and oh so lovey. For him, there isnt anything better than a scratch on the chin. Dakota does this little pouncing dance, jumping up and down saying look at how big and tough I am! He mostly ends up looking very funny and has earned nicknames like kangaroo, lamb and bunny-hop. We have learned many things from Dakota. We have learned to accept that we will never have lovely gardens again, and that all those holes hes dug add character to the lawn! We have learned that sometimes, taking a nap CAN solve all the problems of the day. We have learned that childrens socks, mittens and winter hats will almost always be snatched and a very spirited chase will follow. Best of all we have learned that being loved by a Chinook is just about the best thing ever!
